Giverboard.com is Playmob´s newest project, linking virtual object in games with charitable causes as a method for raising funds for charities.

Currently in development, the platform will allow game players to see the effect they have on the real world just by playing their favourite games.

Gaming can make a better world says game designer and TED speaker Jane McGonigal, who also reveals that right now “we invest 3 billion hours weekly playing online games”. To that add the current revenues from virtual objects which is set to hit $2.1 billion by the end of 2011 and you can truly appreciate the power and potential gaming has to change the world.

Playmob created Giverboard to encourage passionate players to obtain a better value for the time and money spent in games. An attractive leaderboard will show players the games they played, the virtual objects they purchased and how each of these contributed to change the world for better. Players will be able to compare their results with friends, across games and challenge others to join in the game.

Through Giverboard, charities will be able to reach out to a new audience of top game givers, get to know these brave players and facilitate personalised gratifications and messages from the people they have helped throughout the games. Find out which charities are already on board.

Game Developers will have the possibility to sign up their games on Giverboard, indicate what virtual objects are charitable and select the cause they wish to campaign for.

Giverboard is a simple and effective way to increase the game visibility and for game developers to engage with their audience. See game developers who are already on board.
